Paris, September 20, 2024 — Up & Under, in partnership with World Rugby, SOC Rugby, and the City of Chambéry, is proud to announce the organization of two international rugby matches on November 16, 2024, at the Chambéry Savoie Stadium. This unique event will bring together four rugby nations, including some of the world’s top teams.
Thierry REPENTIN, Mayor of Chambéry, expressed his excitement about the event:
« It’s truly exceptional, it’s incredible. This will be a great celebration of sport and international competition, as we’ll have the opportunity to host four rugby nations, including teams ranked in the top 10 – some of the best in the world – playing in a departmental capital rather than a major city. »
Simon KIBBLE, representative of World Rugby, highlighted the strengths of the city and its facilities:
« The capacity here and the facilities are magnificent, around 5,000 seats, which is fantastic. But also, the field, the training conditions, and the hotels make the region a perfect setup for our four international teams. »
For Philippe PIERDOMENICO, President of SOC Rugby, the Chambéry Savoie Stadium represents the future of rugby:
« It’s a new-generation stadium, with great proximity to the players, and that’s very important. As a player, it’s an exceptional experience. We’ve doubled the number of spectators, and we will do everything to ensure the players are in the best possible conditions. »
Léo PENA, co-director of Up & Under, outlined the vision to make this a full day of rugby celebration:
« Two major international matches, four of the world’s best teams = a huge challenge for the organizing committee, but also a tremendous opportunity for rugby in a region with a deep passion for the sport. The goal here is to offer a comprehensive package where spectators experience the entire afternoon: the RUGBY DAY. They’ll come to watch both matches, and in the hour between the end of the first match and the start of the second, they can grab a drink and enjoy the entertainment on the forecourt. The idea is for them to be here for the first match at 2:30 PM and the second at 5:30 PM, creating an unforgettable day of rugby. »
The Chambéry Savoie Stadium, with its 5,000-seat capacity, is ready to host this high-profile sporting event, offering fans the unique opportunity to witness two back-to-back encounters between four great rugby nations. This day promises to be a memorable event for Chambéry and its surroundings, reinforcing the city’s status as a key destination for international sports competitions.
